Unprofessional and rude
31 July 2020
Reviewer: Randy from Portland Oregon

42 of 78 people found this review helpful

I have been in private practice for 40 years and used this service for several years. I found it very valuable. When COVID 19 hit, I had to work remotely and could not access the site. I had our in-house IT person try to contact the company and fix the issue but she could not. We then had our outside IT person do the same. I then started getting e-mails saying I was allowing unauthorized people to use my account and they would suspend my account. I explained why; they were IT folks trying to fix the problem for me. They were very rude, nonprofessional and sarcastic. Never use this service.

In summary, I would not recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.

Scumbags with horrific customer service and poor tech
03 September 2019
Reviewer: Matt from Singapore

On signing up their log-in didn't work. I had to email their support as no-one from their phone number answered the phone.

I received a message a day later telling me "to log out then log back in". On doing this the website worked.

After finding that they had a very limited collection of documents which were not generally recent I started the cancellation process.

There is no simple way to cancel with these charlatans and their abysmal IT development. They require 48 hours notice and for you to fill in a form. Total scumbags who I doubt have much repeat business - perhaps that's the business model.

Even though I filed my cancellation request before my subscription date was up, they still proceeded to charge me for another month, not even accounting or discounting for the service disruption I received.

In summary, I would not recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.

Cancellation policy is a lie
24 December 2018
Reviewer: Patrick M from Austin Texas

Fully concur with others who tried to cancel. Very, very difficult if not impossible to ”cancel” at any time. No notice when they intend to automatically renew. I requested cancellation within 24 hours of seeing the renewal charge. Refused with an awkward twisted explanation. Much of it is a scam set up. I think they deserve a class action lawsuit. the terms ”cancel” at any time is false and misleading. Akin to a ”switch and bait” technique.

The practice of not providing any prior notice of the next renewal date by email says it all. Consumer beware! Gotcha!

Never Again

Reviewer: Hate Scammers from Michigan

This company is a complete scam. It is nearly IMPOSSIBLE to try to cancel the "no risk" one month free subscription. No one EVER answers the phone. They also claim to have a 2-step cancellation policy where they send you a second email to finalize - but then then never send the second email. Meanwhile, they continue to charge you monthly fees on your credit card.

HORRIBLE BUSINESS. Do not go near it!

In summary, I would not recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.

Terrible - as difficult as possible to cancel

As another reviewer noted, carefully read the full "Terms of Use" for a preview of their customers-as-hostages business philosophy.
They require a "two-step" cancellation process - but then they fail to send the second-step email allowing you to "confirm" your cancellation request.
They also claim to send the email from "smartrules'" instead of "realdealdocs" - apparently as a purposeful trap for the unwary who are presumably expecting a response email from "realdealdocs."
Then you will likely have to incur multiple phone calls and emails to get further stonewalled from cancelling. Meanwhile, they continue to charge fees even as they fail/refuse to allow you to cancel, even though you've followed all their required steps.
Perhaps the worst customer service I've ever experienced.
An interesting approach for selling services to the legal field . . .

Read every word of the user agreement before you sign up
15 December 2016
Reviewer: Unhappy User from Las Vegas, NV, USA

The range and quality of documents is acceptable. However, most of the documents relate to complex transactions and appear to originate from SEC filings of publicly traded companies.

The user agreement is long and has highly unusual terms, such as a clause that says that you can never say negative things about the company if you choose to subscribe. Obviously, this is gag clause is unenforceable, but it gives you an idea about the attitude problems that you will find if you need customer service or if you attempt to navigate the multi-step process of cancellation, which is VERY time consuming.

The "friendly" customer service staff is not so friendly once you disclose that you intend to cancel.

Beware.

I've been using realdealdocs for over a year - love the site
15 October 2014
Reviewer: Adam G. from San Francisco

Realdealdocs can't be beat for the quality and number of contracts and agreements available. This site has saved me so much time and money. I wouldn't want to be without it. And the documents stand up to the real test - twice I've gone to court and won because I used contracts from this site.

Any time I've needed help with the site, their customer service has been quick to respond and highly professional.

Some people complain about their renewal practices, but they are posted prominently in large lettering and plain language on the signup page. "For your convenience, your RealDealDocs(TM) Membership automatically renews and you can cancel at any time." It doesn't get much clearer than that.

I highly recommend RDD to anyone needing contracts, agreements, clauses, etc who doesn't want to spend a small fortune on a lawyer.

In summary, I would recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.

Horrible customer service and sneaky renewal policies.
16 May 2014
Reviewer: Crispyh from OH

Beware. When you sign up for this service you will be stuck with automatic enrollments and no possibility of even a prorated refund if you forget to cancel. The company doesn't send invoices so you have no way of knowing when your renewal is coming up in case you want to cancel. These policies are buried half-way through the fine print of a very long customer service agreement which most folks won't have the patience to read. My advice to the company: if you must have such rigid policies, at least post them prominently instead of hiding them guiltily.

In summary, I would not recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.

These Guys are in the Business of Cheating Consumers
09 May 2014
Reviewer: Boorealdeal from USA

This site is ok in terms of providing reference of forms used in other deals. They are not templates. It's a reference point from which an attorney will take considerable amount of thought and time to mold into the document needed.

The problem is that once you're a customer, you're a customer for life until you cancel and you will be hit with a surprise automatic renewal of $444 whenever that occurs. You cannot join without agreeing to the automatic renewal. The user account does not offer you any information about when you're account is coming up for renewal.

Anne Marie Mills, the Director of Customer Services, is unwilling to work with you at all if you contact her as soon as you discover the automatic renewal charge and want to make changes to the account. In her opinion, the remedy is the terminate your account in 364 days.

While I wanted to simply change the credit card account on file with my username, in exchange for the $444 I feel was inappropriately taken from me they will lose a subscriber.

In summary, I would not recommend Real Deal Docs to a friend.
